Birthday Breakfast at Stacks

We arrived in Ft. Lauderdale at about 11.30am, Eastern time. The people from the hotel told us to just call when we got to the terminal and they’d come get us. What we were about to learn was, nobody in Ft Lauderdal is in a hurry. When I called, they said it would be 15 minutes. We waited over and hour and a half. We eventually made it to the Red Carpet Inn. We were not really impressed with the place, but it didn’t matter.
So after we got all checked in and settled and whatnot we decided to wander around the area and see what’s up. Since we didn’t know where we wanted to go, it didn’t make any sense to call a cab, so we decided to walk. So we wandered about for several hours and decided to get something to eat. Our handy dandy tourist map told us about a place called Shirttale Charlies which was nearby.
The place was really cool. The whole place was this big deck over the river there. Complete with watertaxi’s and everything. That big metal thing you see in the picture there is actually a bridge for a train. It was pretty cool to see that thing operate. The service was slow, but the food was quite good.
After that we took a cab back to the hotel and went to bed.
The Cruise: Day 1

The plane was to take off around midnight. We got all ready to go and headed up a couple hours early. When we got to the terminal, everything looked all closed up. Kristen got out of the car and ran in only to find out our tickets were for another airport. See, we got the tickets on one of those online ticket places. At one point, they notified us that they’d changed our flight numbers. What they neglected to mention was, they’d actually changed the airport too. Bastards.
Anyway, we ended up getting up to the other airport in plenty of time. We sat down at a cafe near our gate for some overpriced hamburgers. Kristen generally gets to bed before 11pm, so by the time we landed in Dallas, she was exausted. Our stayover in Dallas wasn’t too long and before we knew it, we were back in the air. She slept all the way to Florida. I didn’t.
We’re Back!!!
Sunday, May 8th, 2005We’re back! Sorry I didn’t get to post from the boat. I’ve got most of the pictures online now. You can view them here. I’m going to try to write up a detailed description of each day’s events. Look for that coming soon. Until then, enjoy the photos. I’m going to try to put comments on them, but there are a lot, so it’s gonna take a bit.
