MacBook

I finally got one! This afternoon, at the Apple store, I finally decided I could not wait any longer. I bought a MacBook. And it’s glorious.

I’m still planning on upgrading the hard drive and RAM, but the performance is already quite acceptable. It’s way faster than my Mac mini. It seems that most apps that I use regularly are already available as Universal Binary (meaning they’ll run just as well on the old G4 and G5 chips as well as the new Intel chips). The only thing I haven’t been able to get for this system so far is Flip4Mac, which is a plugin for Quicktime for playing Windows Media Files.

I’m downloading Parallels Desktop for Mac, which will let me run Windows (ugh) within my Mac, so I can test out stuff in IE and whatnot without needing another machine, or even to reboot my current machine. It’s recommended that you have a lot of RAM for such a piece of software as you actually have both OS’s in memory at the same time, but that will just have to wait.
